In the furniture industry, Storehouse Furniture is one of the companies that set that standard. Storehouse Furniture opened its doors in 1969 in Georgia, and since then, the company consistently expanded throughout the Southeast and Texas while adding new and revolutionary styles to their stores. Storehouse Furniture had a reputation as the go-to store for people who were looking for contemporary, cutting edge furniture styles at prices that were friendly to everyone. Many of the best loved furniture brands today were originally introduced to American shoppers through the Storehouse Furniture brand, and Storehouse brought things like modern European styles to customers who had never encountered them before. Some of their most popular pieces included the Storehouse Furniture Soho bookcase and other home office merchandise. Storehouse Furniture was so ahead of the curve when it came to furniture styles and designs that the store received recognition in the form of several rewards over the years, including twice winning the coveted Home magazine Furniture Retailer of the Year award.
What many customers loved about Storehouse Furniture, even more than their cutting edge furniture styles, however, was their prices. Storehouse Furniture offered all of this style and innovation at a price most customers could afford. |

The End Of Storehouse Furniture
Storehouse Furniture closed filed for protection under Chapter 11 bankruptcy laws in 2006. The former Storehouse Furniture store locations have been bought out by other furniture stores and the Storehouse Furniture catalog is no longer in circulation. So, why did such a beloved furniture brand go out of business? Storehouse Furniture blames their recent troubles on the expansion of store like Room to Go, which force customers to purchase their furniture as sets instead of by the individual piece. This allows the furniture retailers to purchase the furniture in bulk, giving them a deep discount, which in turns allows them to undercut other retailers. As customers become more and more familiar with this way of doing business, older furniture stores like Storehouse Furniture, which sell pieces individually and have less buying power struggle to compete. The furniture offered by the bulk buying chains are usually of lower quality and usually there is less of a selection than offered by stores like Storehouse Furniture, but price generally wins out in the end. Customers who have furniture they purchased from Storehouse Furniture in the past are no longer covered by warranties issued by Storehouse Furniture. Credit accounts from Storehouse Furniture are managed by the issuing bank and all payments can go to them. |
